The WHS Band Boosters provides at least one hot meal and/or snack at each competition. Many competition locations have snack bars and food trucks. We also encourage you to visit the websites of school competition locations for more information as well.
Will they practice before or after school?
Not usually. WHS Marching Band/Concert Band rehearse during class time. They do, however, have a Super Saturday (See Calendar) to kick off the marching season with rehearsals and clinics. And, students participate/practice during the March-A-Thon fundraiser after school at the beginning of the Fall term to raise money for their student accounts for Fall Tour.
How should female students in Marching Band do their hair before a competition?
Ladies with long hair should arrive before every competition and on the bus with their hair up in a high, tight ponytail or bun. Sides should be smooth and "in place," especially around the ears and the nape of the neck.
Bobby pins and hairspray work well. Another idea that works well is to us an elastic headband that matches your hair color.
There is often not enough time for touch-ups and fine tuning before a competition. Doing the bulk of hair prep before arriving helps ensure the marching band is on time for a great competition.
